Following PM Shigeru Ishiba's resignation, Japan's Liberal Democratic Party faces a leadership race. The winner will vie for prime minister in a parliament vote. Sanae Takaichi, known for conservative views, and Shinjiro Koizumi, a young reformer, are potential candidates. Yoshihiko Noda, leader of the opposition CDP, could also contend for the top post.
