Meta Platforms' Threads has set a new record by crossing 100 million sign-ups within five days of launch, dethroning Microsoft-backed OpenAI-owned ChatGPT as the fastest-growing online platform to hit the milestone. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced this in a Threads post. The app has been gaining users since it launched on July 4 and has emerged as a serious threat to Twitter. Instagram head Adam Mosseri has insisted that they are not trying to replace Twitter, but to create a public space for communities who want to have conversations in a less angry place.
